WELCOME up2us Sports Coaches

1/16/2018

As part of this year’s brand new Legacy Program we have partnered up with Up2Us sports to hire two highly qualified coach/mentors -- Jharif Corchado and Tyhaim Morris Brown -- who will be working with the Legacy skaters to ensure they are healthy, happy, skating and most importantly building community and increasing their learning and problem-solving capacities. Jharif and Tyhaim are joined by long-time HHF volunteer, skate instructor and chaperone Wade Yates. Scroll down to learn more about our new coaches.

Jharif is a junior majoring in Illustration at Parsons School of Design. He was born in New York and raised in the Bronx and has been skateboarding since the middle of high school. He is looking forward to sharing his experience as a person of color in the skate community, offering guidance, support, and a sense of direction to help the Legacy skaters achieve success, and helping them to explore and develop skills in art.

Tyhaim is a graduate of Job Corps with certifications in carpentry and construction. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, has been skateboarding for 12 years, and is an active member of the NYC skate community. In addition to his work with HHF, he runs his own small brand called HiLyfe Shades and does photography. He is looking forward to using his love of skateboarding to make connections with youth in the Legacy program.
