HAROLD HUNTER FOUNDATION, ADIDAS SKATEBOARDING AND FRIENDS TO HOST SERIES OF SKATEBOARDING-RELATED EVENTS IN NYC FROM MAY 30 – JUNE 2
NEW YORK, NY – May 15, 2019 – The Harold Hunter Foundation, in association with title sponsor adidas Skateboarding, and primary sponsors G-Shock and Zumiez, is proud to announce it will host a series of skateboarding-related events in New York City from Thursday, May 30 through Sunday, June 2. Now in its thirteenth year, the festivities will once again comprise an extended “Harold Hunter Weekend” of special events, including skate contests, jams, parties, live music, and a panel discussion, that celebrate skateboarding culture and community, and NYC. The 2019 Harold Hunter Weekend will take place at multiple locations across downtown New York City kicking off with the launch of a special HUF x HHF capsule collection and culminating with the thirteenth annual Harold Hunter Day Skate Jam at Coleman Oval skate park on Sunday afternoon. “New York is an extremely important city for skateboarding and adidas is committed to helping serve the community there through our ongoing partnership with The Harold Hunter Foundation,” says Cullen Poythress, Senior Communications Manager for adidas Skateboarding. Longtime HHF restaurant partner Sweet Chick will once again fuel the festivities for the entire month of June via it’s annual Harold-inspired dish with a portion of proceeds to benefit the foundation. Available at all five Sweet Chick locations (Manhattan, Williamsburg, Prospect Heights, Queens, and Los Angeles), the “Harold Special”, available from June 1-30, will feature Boonkie Drumsticks & Sweet Corn Waffles (named after Harold’s beloved dog “Boonkie”), side of string beans, and Harold’s Lemonade (fresh-squeezed lemonade mixed with Harold’s whiskey of choice, Jack Daniel’s). Following is an overview of HH Weekend events and collaborations that will benefit the Harold Hunter Foundation: THURSDAY, MAY 30 6:00-9:00pm HUF x HHF capsule release party at the HUF NYC Store (125 Crosby Street, Manhattan) A party to celebrate the release of a limited edition HUF x HHF product capsule featuring co-branded socks, tees, and a hoodie which will be available on the HUF website, at the HUF NYC and LA stores, and at retailers nationwide with proceeds to benefit the foundation. FRIDAY, MAY 31 6:30-8:30pm Panel Discussion hosted by HHF, G-Shock, adidas Skateboarding, and The Boarder Amateur skaters competing in the HHF Wildcard Contest division of Boardr Am and participants of the HHF Legacy program will learn about the ins and outs of working in the skateboarding industry from a panel of industry veterans (private invite-only event) SATURDAY, JUNE 1 10:00am-5:00pm Boardr Am featuring the fourth-annual HHF Wildcard Contest (Coleman Oval/LES Skatepark, Manhattan) Boardr Am is a top amateur skate contest drawing skaters from around the world. HHF subsidizes entry fees for up to 20 local skaters in the HHF Wildcard division. Both the overall winner of Boardr Am and the winner of the HHF Wildcard division will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the finals at the Empire Open contest in Montreal, Canada 6:00pm-8:00pm HUF Team Demo/Skate Jam (12th & A) Skate jam at 12th and A featuring a demo by the HUF team and new box and ramps. 9:00pm Harold Hunter Edition of SKATE NIGHT NYC Hosted by adidas Skateboarding (Max Fish 120 Orchard Street) adidas Skateboarding and Max Fish present a special Harold Hunter edition of the bar’s famous Skate Night NYC featuring discounted drinks, Harold Hunter Trivia, games, prizes, and a special Harold Hunter Remix edit created by RB Umali with live music from local skate rock acts Witchslap and Matalleg. SUNDAY, JUNE 2 1:00-6:00pm Harold Hunter Day XIII Skate Jam (Coleman Oval/LES Skatepark, Manhattan) All-ages skate jam featuring pop-up “Best Trick” contests on custom build obstacles in the park with cash prizes, a live DJ, and a massive product toss. Following the session at LES will be a cross-city skate mission with the adidas team hitting some of NYC’s most famous skate spots along the way for additional best trick events for cash and bragging rights.
