The 14th Annual Harold Hunter Bridgerun is a grassroots run/skate/roll through Manhattan's Lower East Side that pays homage to Harold while raising funds for HHF programming.
This year's event will be held on NOVEMBER 10, once again in partnership with the NYC Bridgerunners. HH Bridgerun XIV will kick-off at Tompkins Square Park at 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 10th, and we'll hit the streets as a group for approximately 5 miles. The event will conclude at the South Street Seaport for a private after-party at Cobble Fish on Pier 16. All registered runners will receive a limited edition HH Bridgerun XIV t-shirt designed by HHF program participants. On Saturday, October 23rd, HHF Coach/Mentor Eliza Gonzalez and friends hosted a skate jam and winter coat drive at the Maloof Skatepark in Queens. It was a positive day for the community filled with cash-for-tricks contests, vendor pop-ups, free food and beverages, and live music performances. As Eliza Gonzalez puts it, "Hosting this event at Maloof Skatepark, we wanted to end our last event of the season with a bang. With our coat drive being a huge success and the DJ's and live performances providing dope sounds amidst our skate jams. We truly saw everything we worked for come full circle. From the vendors who always display their amazing talents, to the sponsors who support us. To be able to give back to the community right before the colder weather hit and to provide a safe yet fun space for all to enjoy was one for the books. It's truly always a pleasure to have HHF support our vision." Video courtesy of Michael Furnari and Parlour Productions.
Huge thanks to CBS New York for running a story on the evening news about the HHF Brownsville Skate Project Summer & Fall Clinics at Betsy Head Skatepark in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
The free skateboarding clinics are instructed by HHF Coaches Bilal Ndongo, Andy Millien, and Shani Bouldin. The clinics run every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from October 6th - December 3rd and are open to skateboarders of all abilities 5-17 years of age. Special thanks to L+M Development Partners for their help in making these skate clinics a reality for the local community. Click here to learn more, and watch the CBS New York story now: On October 15th at Tompkins Square Park the HHF x 21 Mercer Creative Careers Pilot Program wrapped with the premiere of "Hunter" -- a skate movie conceived, filmed, edited, and produced by program participants. Spearheaded by Jeggi Elinzano with support from HHF coaches and staff, the pilot program focused on career readiness, community building, development of professional and life skills, and more. In addition to producing a video, NYC skaters who participated in the program also had the chance to design their own board graphic with guidance from professionals within the New York design community. Recap video shot and directed by Ray Mendez. Video edit by Michael Furnari, with additional footage shot by Bryant Delarosa. On Saturday, September 25th, HHF hosted an end of summer celebration for HHF Summer Skate Clinic participants at Betsy Head Skatepark in Brownsville, Brooklyn. We provided graduation gifts to the most active skaters during our clinics, including decks, trucks, and wheels courtesy of Supreme. The event also featured instructional skate sessions with HHF Coaches, plus we pre-registered 5-17 year old skaters for our Fall Skate Clinics that run from October 6th - December 3rd.
