HHF is proud to present Handling Police Encounters on Thursday, July 30th at 4:00pm EDT.
Handling Police Encounters will feature Joanna Slater formerly with The Legal Aid Society. Joanna will share info about civilian rights during police encounters and how to exercise them, as well as what to do if those rights are violated. The virtual workshop will also feature Jahi Rose and Maroua Righi from NYC’s Civilian Complaint Review Board. The CCRB is a city agency, independent of the New York Police Department, that investigates and mediates complaints against NYPD officers in a neutral and unbiased manner. There will be an open Q&A for attendees at the conclusion of the presentations.
Joanna Slater Joanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20-years of experience in the delivery of social services to adolescents and their families with specialization in group residential programs and the juvenile justice system.
