HHF provides mentorship, life skills workshops, and psychosocial support designed to help youth overcome barriers by nurturing the development of social-emotional and self-management strategies as well as guiding skaters through the process of post-secondary career exploration.

Community Outreach Programs
Skate Clinics
Our  open-enrollment outreach-based coach-led program that serves as the primary point of entry into all HHF programs, events, and opportunity. Locations of open skate clinics ("skate sessions") are posted weekly on our Instagram page.

Skate Camp Program
In our  SKATE CAMP motivated teen skaters (age 14-17) participate in HHF's year-round Skate Program and are invited to our amazing week away in the mountains of NY state for a week of skating, swimming, camping, hiking, bonding, and so much more!

​Women & Girls Initiative
The Women & Girls Initiative is a pioneering program designed to empower and engage girls at a younger age in the world of skateboarding. This initiative creates a safe and supportive space for organic mentorship between women and girls, fostering connections within the traditionally male-dominated sport.

LGBTQIA+ Initiative
HHF's  LGBTQIA+ Initiative seeks to provide support, advocacy and opportunity to skateboarders in the NYC area who identify as women and/or LGBTQIA+.

Men’s Mental Health Initiative
The Men's Health Initiative focuses on male-identifying skaters and their impact within the skateboard community. We host a series of workshops and events that support men’s ability to listen, learn, and become better allies and role models.

The Future Pathways Programs, offered by The Harold Hunter Foundation, are dynamic initiatives designed to guide and support young skateboarders in their journey toward successful and well-rounded futures. 

The Future Pathways Programs at The Harold Hunter Foundation are committed to shaping the future of talented skateboarders and young adults, offering them a structured path to success and fulfillment in both their skateboarding careers and broader life aspirations.
Rider Development Program
This initiative provides structured support to talented competitive skateboarders, who often face unique challenges due to their singular focus on skateboarding. It ensures they can balance their passion for skateboarding with other essential life goals such as fitness and education.

Grow With Google
​Grow with Google at HHF helps skaters across NYC and the US grow their skills, careers, and businesses by offering free tools, training, and events. In partnership with Google and Coursera, we provide scholarships for self-paced, online professional certificates in the fast-growing high-demand fields of project management, user experience (UX) design, data analytics, digital marketing & e-commerce, IT support, and cybersecurity.

Creative Careers Program
This program offers pathways to skateboarding adjacent careers, helping young individuals explore and pursue creative professions that align with their passion for skateboarding.

Workforce Readiness Initiative
This component creates internship and job opportunities for young adults, offering them structured work environments to gain valuable experience and prepare for their future careers.

WHY SKATEBOARDING?

​Skateboarding offers a healthy outlet that diverts youth from gang participation, prevents a sedentary lifestyle, builds character, provides a way to channel difficult feelings, encourages crossing national, cultural, and racial boundaries, and instills a spirit of community involvement, self-efficacy, and entrepreneurship.

Many of the very qualities, abilities, and characteristics that draw kids to skateboarding can also make them vulnerable to a variety of pitfalls. Skateboarders have unique needs that are often not adequately addressed by traditional organizations and institutions, thereby hindering the optimal development of their creativity and innovative spirit. We seek to fill this void by providing services that are specifically and creatively tailored to develop and realize potential through skateboarding.

HHF programs, which are developed in consultation with local skaters, are designed to use skateboarding-related activities to develop and enhance our core values in youth aged 6 to 30. Our programs focus on:

  1. Exposing at-risk populations to skateboarding as an alternative to violence, gang participation, and a sedentary lifestyle;
  2. Providing instrumental support, resources, and opportunities for alternative experiential education to those who are already committed to skateboarding so that they can achieve educational, occupational, and personal success.
