Horticultural Fellow

North Brooklyn Parks Alliance

The North Brooklyn Parks Alliance Horticultural Fellowship is a twelve-week volunteer (unpaid) program ideal for high school graduates, college students, or individuals seeking to add horticultural experience to their resumes.

Spring Fellowship: April 1 – June 30.

Fall Fellowship: October 15 - December 15. 

To apply, interested applicants should email [email protected] with subject NBPA Horticultural Fellowship including a cover letter responding to the following prompts: 
  • What do you hope to learn as a NBParks Horticultural Fellow?
  • How does this align with your prior experience and career goals? 

​Resumes are encouraged but not required. Please include at least one reference with an email and phone number.

​Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, but NBK Parks will not take on more than 4 Horticultural Fellows at a time.

Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT Jobs)

OBT Jobs empowers individuals to to break the cycle of poverty and inequity through education, job training, and employment.

They offer vocational or sector certification tracks in technology, healthcare, and construction. OBT also offers adult employment services, computer literacy classes, and ESOL classes.

The Door

HHF highly encourages any program participants aged 12-24 to register for a FREE membership at The Door. 

The Door offers free youth comprehensive services such as health care, education, mental health counseling and crisis intervention, legal assistance, high school equivalency and college preparation services, career development, housing support, arts, sports and recreational activities, and nutritious meals.


​The Door career-building resources, primarily for youth aged 16-24

hhf fUTURE PATHWAYS PROGRAMS

Creative Careers
  • Annual cohort-based program that serves at least 20 skateboarders every fall since 2022
  • Focused on career paths in the arts such as design, film, photography and music
  • Monthly workshops, panels, and private skate sessions
Rider Development
  • Supports skateboarders passionate about pursuing careers as professional skateboarders and/or working in the skateboarding industry
  • Provides a holistic framework that includes fitness, mental health, and workforce readiness
Grow With Google
  • HHF provides free Google Career Certificate scholarships to skateboarders, which usually cost $49/month
  • Foundational education in technical fields such as data analytics, IT support, UX/UI, project management, and digital marketing/e-commerce
