The Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF) is a grassroots skateboard community-based organization that provides support, opportunity, and advocacy for NYC skateboarders. We leverage credible messengers to develop authentic relationships, provide case management, mentorship, and peer counseling, and connect youth/young adult skateboarders (age 14-30) with instrumental support, resources, and opportunities for workforce readiness training, so they can achieve educational, occupational, and personal success.
Position Overview:
HHF is seeking a Consulting Licensed Social Worker to join its senior programs team. The Social Worker oversees the community outreach and case management aspects of HHF’s programs; is responsible for training and supervision of our direct service staff (trained community members) who provide mentorship, peer-counseling, case management, and referrals to the skateboarding community throughout NYC; and consultation on and management of mental health and social work outreach programming. The Social Worker shares accountability for the quality and success of HHF’s community outreach and case management with the Director of Programs and Executive Director, and is supported by the Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator.
5-12 hours per month. Flexible hours (some daytime hours necessary). Hybrid (remote and in-person). Competitive rate. April 2022 start date.

Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring of ‘best practices’ case management standard operating procedures
- Training staff in basic peer counseling and case management skills and providing in-service trainings on special topics as needed
- Providing clinical supervision for staff including an LMSW/BSW level case manager
- Providing support and consultation for elevated and/or crisis situations
- Providing case management/coordination and referrals as needed
- Leading topical support groups and/or psychoeducation workshops
- Co-development and implementation with staff and community members of outreach workshops that are responsive to emerging needs in the community
- Assist with designing program structure including mental health initiatives and supportive opportunities for staff
- Building and maintaining community resource guide
- On-Call responsibilities several times per month (determined based upon availability and coordination with the management team)
Job Qualifications:
- Active NY State LCSW required or LMSW with intention to obtain LCSW within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 3-4 years experience working with adolescents and young adults
- Strong knowledge of NYC organizations, agencies and resources supporting at-risk youth/young adults
Skills:
- Experience facilitating groups
- Experience designing and leading psychoeducational workshops
- Knowledge of Anger Management therapeutic protocols, a plus
- Knowledge of ADHD management strategies, a plus
- Knowledge of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy exercises and techniques, a plus
- Bilingual Spanish and English, a plus

- Familiarity with and fondness for the sport of skateboarding, both its community and its ecosystem, as a unique structure where our participants thrive
Work Schedule Commitment:
- 5-12 hours per week with flexibility on days and shifts. Availability for group supervision meetings with staff on Fridays 11am-12:30pm strongly preferred
