NOW HIRING:
HHF INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
POSITION START DATE: DECEMBER, 1 2022
APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 21, 2022
The Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, grassroots, skateboard community-based organization that provides support, opportunity, and advocacy for skateboarders in New York City. Founded in 2007 in memory of legendary Black NYC professional skateboarder, Harold Hunter, HHF uses skateboarding as a vehicle to provide underserved youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness, and the development of life skills. By leveraging credible messengers from within the community, HHF serves youth/young adults (age 6-30) who are already committed to skateboarding, provides community outreach initiatives, case management, mentorship, and peer counseling, and connects them with a network of instrumental support, resources, and structured programs focused on social emotional learning and workforce readiness. HHF has an annual budget of $500k, four full-time staff (including two AmeriCorps VISTA members), 12 part-time staff (including nine AmeriCorps Coach Across America members and three contractors), and a board with six members. The organization is operating on a mostly remote basis, with staff holding programs in person but most organizational business being conducted virtually.
The current ED is a co-founder of HHF and its first Executive Director, and she will be stepping down at the end of 2022. The organization is at a critical inflection point in its evolution where program growth has outpaced the development of necessary systems and infrastructure. The organization also needs its board to shift more into governance and fundraising modes from having been predominantly a founding board. It is anticipated that a development plan for 2023 will be completed by the end of the year. HHF is now seeking to engage an Interim ED who can help build the organization over the course of 2023 while the board conducts an executive search for a long-term ED who can start in 2024. Below is a summary of responsibilities for the Interim ED:
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Anticipated Placement Period: 10-12 months
Anticipated Time Commitment: 3-4 days per week, available as needed otherwise
Desired Start Date: December 1, 2022
Anticipated Compensation: Approximately $5,800 - $7,500 per month; negotiable on a per candidate basis
